The FREE® T2 is a compact, high-quality multi-tool praised for its excellent one-handed operation, perfect size, and smooth locking mechanism. "This is a good multitool that doesn't have a lot of functions (compared to other Leatherman's), but what it does have is good quality. The smaller profile on this tool is definitely worth it when you don't want to be carrying something too big."

"Got this as a gift from my son, and it's a great pocket knife. I've been a long term Leatherman fan since my days in the boy scouts. So it definitely pairs well with the traditional multi tool on my belt. The quality is what I expected from a Leatherman knife, however I just wish it came with a pocket clip."

"I cannot help but compare the T2 to my favorite pocket knife, the Crater C33T that it replaced. Both have a knife blade, Phillips, flat head/pry tool, and can open a bottle. The T2 adds an awl. Despite boasting ease of opening, the T2 is incredibly harder to open one handed than the crater. A thumb stud would help, but I don't see a clear design path to bridge the gap, due to the locking mechanism. On that note, the lock of the T2 is slightly easier to disengage than the liner lock of the Crater, and engages not only the knife blade, but also the tools. The lock appears strong, potentially stronger than a liner lock, but I am unwilling to engage in a destructive test to prove the fact. The T2 has what seems like excessive depth (wasted space on the front-back axis). I had initially blamed this on the lock, but after further investigation I am less sure. The T2's Phillips bit is slightly more cumbersome to deploy than that of the Crater, and slightly inferior, as the Crater had a true #2 Phillips head on a square shaft. The flathead of the T2 is the easiest tool to deploy, and is far easier to deploy single handedly than that of the Crater. As screwdivers/pry tools they are similar, but the T2 does have a "box cutter" lead edge that would seem redundant given the knife blade, but can be nice in situations where over penetration is a concern, such as removing the sheath of bundled wires, and can help in some prying situations. Most importantly, the knife blade of the T2 is okay. It is smaller than the Crater's blade, and due to the depth of the handle behind the knife spine, the knife feels misaligned. Overall, the T2 is a good tool, that replaced a more user friendly tool at a higher price tag."
