"This is. . . the sheath. I've heard that there used to be flimsy plastic ones, but I'm not that old. I AM old enough to remember when leather(ish) ones came standard for even budget tools, and that was nice but I agree that the Nylon is probably actually sturdier. The black on is standard. It does the work. You probably need one. This one probably fits your knife. You probably didn't even have to buy it but, if you're here buying a new one for some reason. . . maybe consider the version with side pockets? Its not much more expensive and it has cool functionality for carrying flashlights or bit extenders if you're into that."

"I have lost 2 wave Leatherman now. Can you make a nylon sheath with pockets with the full Velcro front like the molle with pockets. I think when I sit down and it is not snapped it falls out. and I lose it"

Hard wearing, impossible to complain
"It's one of those rare simple products that just lasts. I've had it on my hip since it came with the Leatherman wave+ I bought in 2018. It's lasted give or take 1500 days of construction, automotive repair, and appliance repair. I'm finally here to get another because some of the stitching on the front is coming undone at the seams so it flops open. It's still functional, and I could fix it with a sewing kit if I had to in the field. Like the tool inside it, I'm as annoying as a vegan when you get me talking about it."
Snap wears out. Leads to lost tool
"I’ve been a leatherman tool user for almost two decades. They are solid tools with solid warranty. The only weak point is the sheath. I’ve probably owned almost 10 tools and the biggest cause of me needing to buy a replacement is because the snap on the sheath wears out within the year and my knife falls out while I’m running around my farm. I’ve actually lost my knife 3-4 times this season but have been lucky enough to retrace my steps and find my tool. I finally lost it for good jumping out of a truck in a wheat field. Leatherman, I love your tool but you need to work on the quality of the sheath"
Leatherman CX sheath
"Size chart is spot on. It seems to be made well, but I didn't care for the little sticker that said "China". Might as well make them in America just like the Leatherman tools. It fits my belt well. The construction seems good (time will tell). The looks are fine. Only 4 stars due to the Country of origin."
